The Hawk and the Hummingbird®
And the Hurricane!

It was a warm and sunny day when Ruby the Ruby-throated Hummingbird awoke.

Ruby stretched his little wings. He peered out of his nest, looking at the world around him.

The sky was a very bright blue. The sun was warm. A gentle breeze kissed his face. Strangely, though, the breeze blew from a peculiar direction. It was not normal for this time in the morning.

Ruby paid the breeze no mind. He spread his little wings and flew out of his nest. Then he paused in midair and looked around.

Ruby zoomed toward Mr. Hawk’s nest in the large red oak tree. He thought, I wonder if Mr. Hawk is up yet. It is such a fine and gentle morning.

Ruby stopped at every bright and colorful flower. He greeted each creature along the way.

Join Ruby the Ruby-throated Hummingbird and Red the Red-tailed Hawk as they investigate the strange and peculiar happenings on their little island. Where is the peculiar wind coming from? Why is the sky getting dark? What happened to Oscar the Osprey’s house?

It’s going to take help from all of their friends to solve this mystery! From book reading inchworms to cab hailing fiddler crabs, come along for a big adventure on a little island.
