Thank you, Veterans

Honoring Our Veterans

Duty, Honor, Country: Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be.
— Retired General Douglas MacArthur. May 12, 1962-West Point Military Academy

By this time in his life, General MacArthur was a veteran of the Philippine-American War (1899-1902), Mexican Expedition (1916-1917), WWI (1914-1918), WWII (1939-1945), and Korea (1950-1953).

He was speaking to a group of cadets, instilling in them the importance of what they were about to accomplish, both in their military career and in their life in general.

It is a life lesson taught to many who have had the honor to serve their country and can call themselves veterans. You may leave the military, but the military never really leaves you. The memories, the bonds created, and the creed follow you wherever you go. It reminds you of what you ought to be. It encourages you in what you can be. And it shows you what you will be. All who have served have sacrificed in some way. For all of those men and women and their families that have served, Thank you and may God bless you.
